Want to learn more about your risk for ovarian cancer? I met Joseph Casey last week at the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference. He lost his mother to ovarian cancer. As a result, his family created this wonderful short video. Please take a few minutes to watch it. It is informative and touching.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKWu-Pl4kfY

Looking Back

Looking Back

For me, 2009 began in deep gratitude, love and joy. I’d done a lot of work to get to this point, yet I wondered: Can this joy, love and deep gratitude be maintained or is it a cycle that will inevitably waver back and forth? How do I receive such treasures and allow them to become me? This ‘me’ feels good – I like it!

I wasn’t willing to stumble back again, so I made a commitment to myself – to my Higher Self. I would dedicate the entire year to Masterful Living. My small self with all its excuses and time constraints would simply have to step aside. That is how it began – 2009.

It’s certainly not the first time I’d done this type of work. Oh I’d cleaned my basement a few times. I finally cleaned it well enough to locate a dungeon door – my filthy dungeon, complete with prisoners and all. I never expected anything like that. What a journey! But that was before 2009 and before Masterful Living.

Masterful Living gave me the greatest gift to date, the gift of freedom.

The cell doors are open! I cannot force the prisoners to leave, but the doors are open and the pathways are lit. I know the shame, the blame, and the judgments are part of me and my fabric. Now, I know where they are… and what they are… and how they whisper in my mind’s ear…

I no longer need to nurture them with my affection or attention. I am free now. Free to receive life’s glory.

When try to think about the shame, blame and judgment game, I find… as Rev. Jennifer Hadley would say… “I’m just not interested in that anymore”.

There is no longer any reward – nor is there any value in giving my time and energy to thoughts of worthlessness, defeat, and criticism. Giving my attention to these negative energies (whether self directed or directed at others) only adds to ‘the collective’ thoughts of self-destruction.  Whether I want to or not… I do (and you do too) contribute to our collective consciousness. My intention is to contribute in ways that benefit all beings and all things.

That means leaving behind old familiar patterns by letting go and freeing that which no longer serves me. It’s rather melancholy… because familiar is always somehow comfortable, even if it is destructive. Yet, I will have it no other way! So now, I welcome the gift and accept it – embracing the glory of a Masterful Life, knowing I am worthy – we are all worthy. I love what Michael Jackson said and I remind myself often, “It’s an adventure”.  I love being on this glorious adventure with all of you. It is so authentic, loving, and spiritually satisfying. I feel intimately connected in heart and soul. It is blissful.

I’ve experienced a year full of miracles. That year changed my life. It was one miracle after another. I could hardly believe it.

So I end my year much the same as I started it… in deep gratitude, love and joy. Only now, I have a community to share it with. How blessed can I be? I love you all. Thank you for the gifts. I treasure them all.

Bio-Identicals

April 7th, 2010 by chris. 2 Comments »

Well Bloggers,

After meditating and asking for guidance from the ascended ones, I decided to consult with an expert on bio-identical hormones to see if I am a candidate. I had my bloodwork done and went in for the consultation. Wow, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but in some ways I was. I basically had no progesterone and no testerone – some estrodial, which resulted in a little of the good estrogen. My doctor was surprised to see that I did have much more estrodail than she expected and she thought it was probably from the macca I take in the Amazon Herbs. Anyway, we talked for a couple hours and I will be starting my new hormone therapy as soon as the hormones arrive (hopefully by the end of the week. I’ll keep you posted about the results I experience. For now… love and white light to all.

Bio Identical Hormones

Hello Bloggers,

I’m wondering if any of you are using bio-identical hormones. Having survived late stage ovarian cancer as well as recurrence, I’ve always been fearful of taking hormones. I must admit, after reading several books by Suzanne Somers, I’m tempted to try. Any feedback would be great!

Ener-Chi Art

March 20th, 2009 by chris. 11 Comments »

Ener-Chi Art is based on one of the most ancient systems of healing and rejuvenation. A primary function of this art is to restore a balanced flow of life force energy, or “Chi,” throughout the body.

Ener-Chi Art consists of inspired artwork imbued with light-encoded energies. It involves a series of paintings; and each is “activated” with specific light rays. There is a painting for each organ and system of the body. For example, if you look at the painting that corresponds to the heart – even for only about a minute -profound changes occur in the life energy field corresponding to that organ. The flow of Chi becomes fully restored, and any thought forms or emotional imbalances that had been locked in the cellular structure of that organ are systematically transmuted and released.

A second series of paintings is designed to heal the Earth and its environment. Six paintings are in this category, with each related to a specific planetary issue. For example, one is meant to heal and awaken energies in the mountain and rock structures of the planet; another intended to have a similar effect on the rivers, lakes and seas.

There is one additional picture, “Beyond the Horizon.” It can be used with any problem, emotional difficulty, physical ailment, and mental or spiritual block.

Each work of Ener-Chi Art, except the one used for healing of the air, is an 8½” X 11″ inch photographic reproduction of the original painting. Only the highest quality commercial photographic processes are used in order to capture the full energetic of the original painting. Included with each picture is a set of instructions so that maximum benefit may be derived from the picture.

Healing Gourds

March 20th, 2009 by chris. 6 Comments »

The use of gourds by cultures around the world predates the use of pottery and baskets. Gourds come from plants in the cucumber family (Cucurbitaceae). They make natural containers, and have been used for more than ten thousand years in all aspects of food and water storage and preparation. Additionally, drums, flutes, rattles and many other instruments have been fashioned from gourds.

picture-026Gourds have also played an important ceremonial role in various cultures, often being ornately decorated. It was believed that good spirits were transported to the earth through gourds and that they captured evil spirits.

I received my healing gourd as a gift when I was going through cancer treatments. The purpose of a healing gourd is to absorb and heal all the negative emotions you might otherwise bring into your body. This practice is in alignment with the Ancients’ beliefs that gourds attract the positive and absorb the negative.

Here’s how to use a healing gourd in your life. First, write down all your negative emotions. Since this is for your eyes only, be honest and specific. Next, take the paper (tear it up if you wish) and put it into the gourd. With this action, you have given all your fears, doubts and anxieties to the healing gourd to be transmuted.  The healing gourd will transform your negative emotions into something wonderful in your life – a beautiful flower, an incredible sunset, an unexpected kindness or even a miracle.

Take a deep breath as you come to know that the burden of those emotions is no longer yours to carry. As your healing gourd fills up, empty its contents and burn the papers on any full moon. The full moon is a time for releasing or purging things that no longer serve us.

Use your healing gourd as often as you like or anytime you experience negative thoughts or emotions. I’m in a group of women called Mystic Souls. We meet on the new and full moon for support, growth and friendship. We have a healing gourd available at our meetings and surprisingly, it fills up rather quickly. We then have a small ceremony on the full moon to burn its contents.

Finding a healing gourd isn’t easy. About two years ago, I went searching for one as a gift. I had a difficult time finding one that was suitable for use as a healing gourd. I tried to contact the person who made mine, but was unsuccessful. I looked on the Internet, in stores and at street fairs. I found plenty of gourds, but they were decorated as birdhouses, Christmas ornaments, or didn’t have a large enough opening at the top. The few suitable gourds I found on the Internet were true works of art and the price reflected it! Finally, I was on vacation in Oregon and I found several at a small street fair. They were reasonably priced and very attractive.

If you can’t find a gourd, you can simply use a box. I know several people who have decorated lovely boxes and use them in the same manner as a healing gourd. While the gourd has a history of beliefs and tradition, I think you can accomplish the same thing using a different container. I always believe intention is everything. Although I love the symbolism of the gourd, if you cannot find one, use a container that appeals to you. The important thing is to release negative energy, letting go of anything that no longer serves a purpose in your life.

Playtime Brings Joy

March 20th, 2009 by chris. 18 Comments »

What brings you joy? I’m talking about real joy – the kind of joy that fills you with happiness and makes your heart sing. If you haven’t pondered this question, then it’s time you do! Finding your joy and living in that space is one of the greatest treasures you can give yourself and others. Joy is such a high vibration that all who are around it benefit.

After my recurrence (when I was sure my days were numbered), I spent a lot of time asking myself, “What really brings me joy?” The question seemed simple enough, yet I struggled to answer it. The obvious answers were family love, time with grandchildren, friends and so on. It was more challenging to answer questions related to me – my spiritual journey, my alone time and even my playtime. Did I even have playtime anymore? Or… had I left that behind with my youth? I decided that I would focus on playtime.

I allowed myself a thought I hadn’t pondered in a long time – tennis. I had to admit, tennis was one of those things that truly brought me joy. It wasn’t like going to the gym and doing another healthy routine so I could mark it off my checklist. Tennis was fun for me!

It may sound silly, but when I play tennis, I feel like a child again. I don’t take it as seriously as most people do. I just look at it as my playtime. I get to be outdoors with friends. And we just play! Running around the court, hitting that little yellow ball with our racquets – we give it our best. We laugh, groan at the lousy shots and cheer when we make great shots! If someone has an off day, we simply shrug it off, knowing it will be better next time. This is our playtime and we love it, whether we play well or not.

If you haven’t thought about your own playtime, now is a good time to do it! Playtime, whatever yours may be… will fill your spirit with joy, laughter and light.

Be more childlike and play simply for the fun of playing. Whether it’s hobbies, art and crafts or games, it will benefit your body, mind and spirit. Playtime is a time for fun and joy – not for judgment and criticism. If you want to improve, take some lessons, classes or simply play more. What’s most important is to just have fun.

If you’ve read my book, then you know it’s a miracle I’m even alive today, let alone playing tennis! Believe me; I had my doubts about being able to return to the game. After searching my heart, I realized that tennis was one of those things that brought me great joy. So, I took a risk and went back to the courts. Mary Pat Faley is my tennis and drill class instructor.

When I started back to drill classes, I simply rested and let the others continue when it became too strenuous for me. Mary Pat Faley is an amazing lady, with tremendous knowledge about the game of tennis and the game of life. I’m astounded at how much we can accomplish with the help and encouragement of others. Mary Pat encouraged me when I thought I wasn’t strong enough or when I thought I couldn’t get back into shape again. She worked with me slowly and patiently until I was able to keep up with the others.

Thanks to Mary Pat and my friends at Calabasas Swim and Tennis Center, I’m back on the court again. I’m happy, healthy and enjoying tennis more than ever. It is part of my joy and part of my healing.

If you’re interested in tennis, leadership, success and healthy living, then you’ll want to know that Mary Pat recently published her first book, “Winning in Tennis and Life.” You’ll learn about tennis, as well as how get healthy and fit in order to take yourself to the top – and beyond!

Masterful Living

February 24th, 2009 by chris. 5 Comments »

During times of life threatening disease, we can’t help but look inward – questioning the presence or absence of God, Spirit or Source (whatever term you prefer). I too have questioned.

In order to live a truly masterful life, we must feed our spirit and nurture our soul. Like maintaining good health, it is ongoing and never ending.

In January, I made a committment to a year long course in Masterful Living. It has already begun to impact my life in the most beautiful and profound ways. I am receiving so much love, abundance and grace that my heart is soaring. Being in the presence of Awakened ones is teaching me how to make a difference in the lives of others, myself and our planet. There is so much we can do and learn. I am finding meaning and purpose.

Please share how you are nurturing your soul and spirit. It will surely benefit all of us. We are all searching for meaning in our lives.

Hello World!

Welcome to my first blog.

Are you a first time blogger… like me? If so, don’t be shy. I want to hear from you. I can guess some things about you. Such as: you probably have ovarian cancer. If not, you’ve been affected by it in some way. Ovarian cancer changed my life completely, especially after recurrence. In what way has this disease impacted your life? Any advice for others?
