2009 AWIN Golf Classic2009 AWIN Golf Classic
Amgen held its 2009 AWIN Golf Classic to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Coalition of Greater California. It was a fun day of golf, followed up with a BBQ and Silent Auction. Paulinda and Gayle brought information and wrist bands that we placed at each table setting. Paulinda had bookmarks made up with the symptoms of ovarian cancer and a photo of her daughter, Robin. Paulinda’s daughter, Robin was 17 yrs. old when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After Robin’s death, Paulinda became the voice for her daughter. She is extremely active and a true advocate for the cause. During lunch, Gayle McKenna and I spoke to the golfers about ovarian cancer. We talked about the disease, the need for an early detection test, and how the disease had impacted our lives. We spoke about how much we value their contributions and generosity - how they are making a difference in the fight against ovarian cancer. All in all… it was a beautiful day.
